Investments in the production of the first domestic hybrid electric engine for hydrofoil ships of the "Meteor" type will amount to 300 million rubles by 2026. This was announced by Mikhail Danilenko, Managing Director of the Kingisepp Machine-Building Plant (KMZ).
The hybrid unit is equipped with a TM-600 engine with a capacity of 800 kW and an electric motor with a capacity of 300 kW. This will increase the efficiency of the unit, electric motors have high efficiency, which allows for more efficient use of energy and increase the cruising range without the need for frequent refueling and meet increased environmental standards and regulations, for example, mooring will take place on electric traction.
A prototype of the new engine is planned to be created in 2025. In May 2026, the hybrid unit will be installed on the ship. After that, serial deliveries of products will begin.
KMZ is investing its own investments in this project, expanding the fleet of technological equipment, retrofitting the testing complex. More than 200 million rubles will be reimbursed by the state. And the total investment in this project is about 300 million rubles by the end of 2026.
Currently, ships of this class use imported installations, in particular, manufactured by MAN from unfriendly countries. The development of a domestic electric motor will reduce dependence on foreign technologies and strengthen Russia's position in the shipbuilding industry.
Earlier www1.ru reported that the tests of the AI-20 engine started at KMZ.
