Sollers ST9 pickups and Sollers SJ9 SUVs will roll off the assembly line in Ulyanovsk from 2025 to 2026

The Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant (UAZ, part of the Sollers Group) has announced the largest transformation in its 80-year history. The modernization will last until 2027, with plans to invest over 18 billion rubles.

Alexey Spirin, General Director of UAZ, noted that before the spring of 2022, about 8% of components were imported, including engine control units from Germany and vacuum boosters from the Czech Republic. Over the past three years, dependence on imports has been almost completely eliminated by switching to Russian and alternative supplies.

In the coming years, the launch of new models under the Sollers brand is expected (Sollers ST9 pickup and seven-seater Sollers SJ9 SUV). Production of the ST9 will begin in the third quarter of 2025, and the SJ9 in 2026. These cars, like the Sollers ST7, will be built on a frame platform with a double-wishbone independent front suspension and a solid rear axle on leaf springs, similar to the Toyota Hilux design.

The upgrade of the painting complex and the introduction of robotic technologies will improve the quality of cars and strengthen UAZ's position in the market.

Earlier, www1.ru reported that sales of UAZ cars collapsed in Russia — the number of buyers decreased by 40%.
