The General Director of AvtoVAZ, Maxim Sokolov, announced that sales of Lada Iskra will begin on July 20, on the company's 60th anniversary. Later, details emerged: there are some nuances with the implementation of the cars.
At the first stage, sales will be available only in large cities, in the "capitals", as Sokolov put it, and not in the standard way, but through online platforms. Specific cities have not yet been specified.
Insiders explain this by the fact that the auto giant has only a few dozen cars ready. Some of the cars assembled at the factory are intended for testing by bloggers and journalists, and not for sale.
The model will be available in sedan, station wagon and cross-station wagon bodies, occupying an intermediate niche between Lada Granta and Lada Vesta. The car is built on a modernized CMF-B-LS platform with a localization level of more than 90%. The car will be equipped with 1.6-liter engines with a capacity of 90 or 106 horsepower, as well as a five- or six-speed manual gearbox, or a variator.
