The Yandex team has announced an update to Yandex Translate, which now uses the capabilities of Alice. The new functionality allows users to communicate with the digital assistant in a chat. You can ask him questions about the English language and get answers on the topic of translation into Russian and vice versa.
Alice is trained on the basis of tens of thousands of facts from linguistics, which allows her to conduct a dialogue on any topic related to English. The neural network can explain why the same word is translated differently depending on the context. This makes it useful for both beginners and those who already have basic knowledge of the language. The digital assistant will explain the rules of grammar, the meaning of idioms, slang expressions and abbreviations. The neural network will be able to adapt the translation to specific tasks, taking into account the style of the text, for example, if it is taken from technical literature.
Access to Alice in Yandex Translate is open to all users who have logged in via Yandex ID. At the moment, the function is in beta testing mode and is provided free of charge, but with restrictions on the number of requests.
Yandex Translate supports automatic translation from more than 100 languages, including the ability to translate texts in images and entire websites. The service is integrated into the search engine and other Yandex products, which allows users to easily get high-quality translations.
