The premiere of the future Lada Azimut crossover took place at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. The press service of AvtoVAZ has published five facts about the new car.
When will it go into series production?
The start of industrial production is scheduled for 2026. While journalists are examining the crossover prototype at the SPIEF-2025, work is boiling in Togliatti to debug the design and prepare production.
What is the car based on?
The Russian-developed crossover is based on the Russian platform - similar to the Lada Vesta. In general, almost a thousand original components and parts were created for the Lada Azimut, including body panels, lighting equipment and interior elements, as well as a new rear suspension.
What is the peculiarity of the car?
A full-size crossover with good ground clearance (208 mm!) is really a new class for LADA. The car is large in appearance, there is a lot of space in the cabin. And, of course, it has a huge number of systems developed for modern, very demanding drivers.
Panoramic roof, wireless charging, adaptive cruise control, two-zone climate system, heated side windows, electric trunk drive. A new software platform for multimedia with Sber services and solutions is also planned.
What does the car look like?
Like itself - and not only. The design of the Lada Azimut is both trendy and recognizable. The "X-style" is read in a new way here. It is noticeable both on the sides of the body and, of course, on the front of the car. But the main thing in the appearance of "Azimut" is this: once you see it, you will never confuse it with anything else. And the LADA identity is felt both in the edges of the body and in how the Volga boat is organically inscribed here.
What kind of engines and gearboxes will there be?
At the start of the project, the car will receive modernized Lada engines of 1.6 liters (120 hp) and 1.8 liters (132 hp). Transmission - 6-speed "mechanics" or variator. Well, in the future, a new turbocharged engine with a capacity of 150 hp is planned with a classic automatic transmission.
