The Il-76 cargo plane with the "Ionosphere-M" No. 3 and No. 4 devices arrived at the cosmodrome - this is the first delivery of space technology after the commissioning of the Vostochny airport complex, Roscosmos reported.
Delivery by air transport significantly speeds up the transportation of space technology and increases safety, the state corporation noted.
Located in two orbital planes, the "Ionosphere-M" devices will transmit information about physical phenomena occurring in the Earth's ionosphere as a result of active anthropogenic and natural influences.
The devices will monitor changes in the spatio-temporal structure of the ionosphere, the composition of the Earth's atmosphere, monitor the radiation environment, disturbances in electromagnetic fields, observe the distribution of ozone in its upper layers, and perform a number of other tasks.
