Modernization of the ninth hydro unit completed at Votkinsk HPP: one more to go

The total capacity of the station will increase from 1020 to 1150 MW next year

The modernization of hydro unit No. 6 has been completed at the Votkinsk HPP in the Perm Territory — the penultimate of ten.

All equipment was replaced with more modern, powerful and energy-efficient equipment. The work was completed in record time — in 329 days instead of the standard 350. After testing, the unit's capacity will increase from 100 to 115 MW.

The planned modernization of the station started in 2017, when the first unit was replaced. Since then, one updated machine has been put into operation annually. After the completion of the project next year, the total capacity of the station will increase from 1020 to 1150 MW.

Votkinsk HPP is a hydroelectric power station located on the Kama River in the Perm Territory. It is part of the Volga-Kama cascade of HPPs and is the second stage of the cascade on the Kama.
