Caught up with the USSR: the transmission for the MT-LB "Motolyga" was import-substituted in Russia

The developers managed to replace all components except the oil filter

Engineers at the Irkutsk Plant of Tracked Vehicles have established their own production of transmissions for the MT-LB "Motolyga" military tracked transporter, which was previously produced only at a factory in Kharkov during the USSR.

In Soviet times, the main transmission for all-terrain vehicles was produced at the Kharkov plant. It worked for decades - reliable, powerful, tested in the most severe conditions. But with the collapse of the USSR, this production was lost.

For a long time, there was no analogue in Russia. But a lot of MT-LB vehicles are used, including in the civilian sector, where there is simply no alternative.

As a result, today almost all components - from the body to the gears - are produced in Russia. Almost 100% are Russian components, the only exception is the oil filter.
