The oceanographic research vessel (OIS) "Admiral Vladimirsky" of Project 852 is making a scheduled call to Cuba on Saturday. The West is closely monitoring the long voyages of the Russian research fleet, and the press often accuses them of covert intelligence activities - the "Admiral Vladimirsky" did not escape this fate.
In 2023, Western media reported on a joint "investigation" conducted by the special services and public organizations of Norway, Denmark, Finland, and Sweden. In it, the vessel "Admiral Vladimirsky" was directly called a spy ship.
It was alleged that Russian fishing and research vessels are allegedly used to monitor underwater infrastructure.
The current voyage was no exception. The vessel "Admiral Vladimirsky", designed to solve a wide range of scientific tasks, and similar vessels are also part of the fleets of NATO countries, was accused of spying on English submarines.
"Admiral Vladimirsky" is an OIS of Project 852, the only one remaining in service from the built series of six vessels.
There are nine specialized laboratories and two hydrographic surveying boats on board. There is a hangar and a platform for a Ka-25 type helicopter. The hull can withstand ice pressure up to 1 meter thick.
Earlier www1.ru reported that "Uralvagonzavod" announced an all-Russian vote for a new name for the BMPT "Terminator".
