Footage of a "modernized" armored reconnaissance vehicle BRDM-2 has appeared online. The "Bardak" was deprived of its standard turret with machine guns - 14.5-mm KPVT and 7.62-mm PKT.
Instead, a 12.7-mm "Utyos" appeared on the combat vehicle, mounted openly behind a small steel shield.
It is unknown why this was done. There is an assumption that the sample received damage to the turret during combat, and no replacement was found.
However, the modification significantly increased the vulnerability of the shooter, who can now be disabled by any stray bullet or shrapnel.
The seven-ton armored vehicle was adopted in 1963. Currently, it is not in service with the army, a certain number of BPDMs are in long-term storage warehouses and are in the parks of the National Guard.
Earlier www1.ru reported that Uralvagonzavod announced an all-Russian vote for a new name for the BMPT Terminator.
