Russian soldiers have equipped a T-80BV tank with an "umbrella" to protect the front of the turret from drones. The Telegram channel "Military Informant" drew attention to the corresponding photograph.
In the footage, you can see a tank with additional structures to protect against drones. In particular, the vehicle received a "barbecue grill" covering the upper hemisphere, rubber screens, and lattice screens on the hull.
An "umbrella" was fixed on the gun barrel — a frame with a net covering the area around the gun. The vehicle was also equipped with a mine trawl.
A similar design was tested in the USSR on T-62 tanks. The vehicle was equipped with a folding "umbrella" designed to protect the tank from HEAT projectiles. However, the unusual design did not catch on.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that the first footage of the Russian combat laser air defense system in operation has appeared.
