Russia has patented a technology for launching automatic spacecraft from an orbital station for their maintenance. This was announced by First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov at a meeting with President Vladimir Putin.
By 2030, we must ensure a planned transition to our own orbital station module by module. It will become the world's first drone platform equipped with robots for its maintenance. This is a patented solution of the Russian Federation.
He noted that this technology will be tested at the Russian Orbital Station (ROS) and subsequently applied within the lunar program.
Currently, Russia is working on the creation of the ROS. The deployment of the station in a near-polar orbit is scheduled for the period from 2027 to 2033. It will become the base for domestic manned cosmonautics after the completion of the International Space Station.
The core of the new orbital station will be a nodal module with six docking ports, to which other modules will be attached. Each of them can be replaced. This will extend the service life of the station and increase its functionality.
Earlier www1.ru reported that the Russian orbital station is planned to be used for tourist missions.
