Russian sea-based cruise missiles "Caliber" thanks to their effectiveness have become a big problem for any air defense system (air defense). The advantages of the missile were named in a publication by The National Interest (TNI).

"Caliber" enhances Russia's ability to project power around the world, deter adversaries, and conduct operations in complex environments. The missile has gained fame for its long range, versatility and operational use.
The author added that missiles with a range of up to 1,500 km allow submarines to hit targets while remaining away from disputed areas. The missile flies at an altitude of 20 meters, which reduces the likelihood of its detection by radars.
The missile can be launched from 533 mm torpedo tubes on submarines or from vertical and horizontal launchers on surface ships.
