Rosprirodnadzor may become the first Russian supervisory agency to introduce artificial intelligence into its work.
According to the head of the service, Svetlana Radionova, neural networks have already helped collect a record 19.9 billion rubles of eco-fee, identifying debtor companies that have evaded payments for years (up to 80% turned out to be like that).
To develop the technology, a special AI unit may be created in the department, which will allow reallocating employee resources to more complex tasks.
The tool is especially important in the framework of the EPR (extended producer responsibility) reform: from 2025, companies are required to recycle 55% of packaging, and by 2027 - 100%. If recycling is not possible, the manufacturer pays an eco-fee.
