AvtoVAZ admits a possible increase in car prices due to rising production costs. This was announced by the company's president, Maxim Sokolov, at the "Digital Industry of Industrial Russia" (CIPR-2025) conference.
"Of course, inflation is always factored into the cost calculation. Therefore, the cost price is increasing. And, thus, this is the basis for indexation, price adjustments, but we will carefully focus on the market situation"
He added that AvtoVAZ will take into account competition, including from Chinese brands. According to his assessment, they resort to aggressive dumping.
Sokolov recalled that similar pricing practices are being investigated in China itself. Despite the benefits for consumers, selling cars below cost limits the ability of automakers to invest in development.
On May 22, the company announced negotiations with the Ministry of Industry and Trade on possible direct subsidies that could support discount offers on Lada cars. AvtoVAZ Vice President Sergei Gromak noted that subsidies would expand the availability of cars, considering that two-thirds of customers make a purchase on credit.
On May 26, the Ministry of Industry and Trade expanded the preferential car loan program. Now it applies to families with two children. The discount under the basic program is 20%, under the "Family Car" subprogram - 10% of the car's cost.
