Since the end of March, the construction of additional parking spaces for aviation has begun at the Engels-2 military airbase in the Saratov region. This was reported by the Telegram channel "Military Informant" with reference to sources and satellite imagery data.
Probably, we are talking about strategic missile-carrying bombers Tu-95MS and Tu-160, fighter-bombers Su-34 and fighters Su-35S. As of recent years, the Engels airbase is the only one where Tu-160 strategic bombers are based.
It is known from open sources that as of 2021, the total number of Tu-160 strategic missile carriers in service with Long-Range Aviation is 16 units. The number of Tu-95 strategic bombers is approximately 20 units.
Earlier www1.ru reported that the manufacturer of MS-21 and SJ-100 suffered a net loss of 24.1 billion rubles last year.
