Bankrupt Saratov Battery Plant Becomes Part of Transmashholding

The company plans to modernize the enterprise: 400 million rubles will be allocated over two years

ZAKB LLC (which includes TMH-Energy Solutions and Penzadieselmash) has purchased the property complex of the bankrupt Autonomous Current Source Plant LLC (Saratov Battery Plant) at public auction. This was reported by the press service of Transmashholding.

ZAKB includes the buildings and structures of the plant, as well as industrial equipment and other assets necessary for the production of alkaline nickel-cadmium batteries. The acquisition will significantly expand the company's production capabilities.

From February to March, all interested employees of the bankrupt plant were hired by ZAKB with the preservation of their previous positions and an increase in wages. A trade union organization was also created for the holding's employees.

ZAKB plans a large-scale modernization of the battery plant's production facilities. In 2025, 109.1 million rubles will be allocated for the maintenance of buildings and landscaping, and in 2026 investments will amount to 308.9 million rubles.

The management of ZAKB is confident that the plant will occupy an important place in the Russian market. The plant's products, rechargeable batteries, are actively used in modern locomotives, electric trains and subways. As part of cooperation with LocoTech-Service, the plant's specialists are engaged in the maintenance and diagnostics of batteries in service depots.

In addition, preparations are underway for a joint project with Rosatom to recycle used batteries. A closed production cycle will be created.
