Footage of a Soviet D-20 howitzer with unusual protection on the barrel has appeared online. Russian military personnel covered it with tires from a Tu-95MS strategic missile-carrying bomber.
The tires came in handy to protect the gun from fragments of FPV drones and drops from drones of the "Baba Yaga" type.
The 152-mm gun-howitzer D-20 is a Soviet 152-mm towed gun-howitzer with manual loading. It first became known in the West in 1955 , so in the states of the NATO bloc it is designated M1955.
The length of the gun barrel is 34 calibers, the length of the rifled part is 3467 mm, the length of the barrel bore is 4240 mm. The firing range with high-explosive fragmentation shells is up to 17.4 km.
The D-20 can also use incendiary, chemical, "Krasnopol-D" guided and 3VB3 nuclear shells.
