Unique Sablets Developed for the SJ-100 "Superjet" Wing: They Reduced Speed on Approach

The development also saves up to 4% of fuel

Engineers at the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) have developed special wingtip devices for the SJ-100 "Superjet" - sablets. The head of the flight test complex of the "Regional Aircraft" branch of PJSC "Yakovlev," Vadim Shirokikh, explained their practical application.

According to him, in Russia they are called sablets, not winglets, as in the rest of the world. The new product looks like a saber.

Sablets save about 3-4% of fuel and allow us to reduce the approach speed by four knots.

According to him, thanks to the sablets, the SJ-100 will be able to land on shorter runways, since the landing speed is lower, thereby further increasing the efficiency of the domestic aircraft.

Earlierwww1.ru reported thatRussia in aviation will be able to do with its own developments, we did not copy, but made it better.
