As part of the demonstration of the latest short-range anti-aircraft missile system (SAM), the Kalashnikov Concern (part of Rostec) offered potential Belarusian customers to install the SAM combat module, which is currently mounted on the wheeled base of the BTR-82, on the tracked chassis of the BMP-2 infantry fighting vehicle.
Alan Lushnikov, General Director of Kalashnikov, noted that the concern is creating a new mobile and highly automated complex capable of effectively countering even the most complex maneuvering targets, including low-visibility enemy drones and cruise missiles.
And here, the high cross-country ability of the chassis on which the combat module is installed plays an important role. Therefore, we offer potential Belarusian customers to install the combat module of the Krona-E air defense system on the tracked chassis of the BMP-2. Although, in principle, we are ready to mount it on any chassis.
The Krona-E air defense system is designed to protect important state facilities from air attacks, as well as infrastructure facilities of cities and special importance; special cargo in places of their storage, structures on strategic communications. The main targets of the complex are medium-class unmanned aerial vehicles.
