S7 Group intends to test the APD-520 Lider aviation piston engine of its own design in the summer of 2025. The amount of investment has not yet been disclosed.
In the first year, S7 plans to produce at least 30 engines, which will be used to equip Tango four-seater light aircraft. The production of the aircraft itself is scheduled for the end of 2026 – beginning of 2027.
The APD-520 engine was developed by the S7 Group design bureau based on the classic design of a six-cylinder internal combustion engine with air cooling. Power is 200 hp, the time between overhauls is 1500 hours with the potential to increase to 2000, and the working volume is 5.2 liters.
The Tango aircraft is being developed as a training aircraft, designed for training civilian pilots. The take-off weight is 1200 kg, and the aircraft can reach speeds of up to 241 km/h with a maximum flight range of up to 1100 km.
According to an S7 representative, government agencies and flight schools are interested in the aircraft, especially in regions with difficult transport accessibility.
