This visual reconnaissance capability is an important resource, allowing the identification of anti-aircraft guns firing tracer rounds, which are easily detected from the air.
The system allows Russian operators to adjust the trajectories of strikes with amazing accuracy.
Also, SIM cards or 4G/LTE modems were found in the drones. Cellular connections provide the Geran-5 with accurate telemetry, which is necessary for tracking and locating moving military equipment.
