The sky over the "Kapustin Yar" training ground was closed not before the launch of the "Oreshnik" medium-range ballistic missile (MRBM), but for another reason. This was reported by military expert Boris Rozhin, citing retired Colonel Aslan Nakhushev.

According to the Telegram channel "Russian Weapon", we may be talking about another test of the 77N6 endoatmospheric interceptor missile of the anti-aircraft missile system S-500 with a high-altitude interception range of 50 - 60 km, an 18.6-Mach 53T6 interceptor missile, or a secret SAM interceptor with unknown parameters.

The training ground was created on May 13, 1946 as the State Central Training Ground of the Ministry of the Armed Forces of the USSR for testing missile weapons, the first Soviet ballistic and anti-aircraft missiles.
