About project 677

Submarines of project 677 were developed by specialists of the "Rubin" Design Bureau. The series is a development of project 636 "Varshavyanka" and 877 "Paltus" (in the West they are called the Kilo class).

Submarines of project 677 are designed to combat underwater and surface ships of the enemy, and to protect naval bases. They are equipped with "Caliber" missiles.

About project 636.3

The 636.3 project submarines are designed to destroy surface ships and vessels, enemy submarines, patrol, guard duty, reconnaissance, and protect communications in the near sea zone.

The strong hull provides the submarine with a working depth of 240 m and a maximum depth of 300 m. The main armament of the submarines is the "Caliber-PL" missile system.
