The number of strategic and long-range missile-carrying bombers in the Russian Aerospace Forces (VKS) has become known. This was reported by the Technosphere Russia publication, citing Western sources.
According to preliminary data, the military has at least 16 Tu-160M/M2, at least 55 Tu-95MS/MSM and about 55-60 Tu-22M3.
According to Western data, there are only 15 tanker aircraft — Il-78 and Il-78M based on the Il-76.
Reconnaissance aircraft and special purpose aircraft (EW, AWACS) are represented by 54 Su-24MR, 4 An-30, 9 Tu-214R and other modifications, 19 Il-22/Il-22M, 14 Il-20M, at least 7 A-50U, 2 Il-80 and 1 Il-82 (airborne command posts).
