Advanced Pantsir-S1 SAM System with New Radar from Longer-Range Pantsir-SM Unveiled

With the new radar version, the system can track up to three aerial targets

The Pantsir-S1 anti-aircraft missile and gun system (SAM) with a new 1RS2-1 radar station (RLS), operating in both centimeter and millimeter wavebands, was spotted at the Victory Parade rehearsal in Tula. Previously, such a radar was installed only on new modifications of the Pantsir-SM and Pantsir-SM-TBM complexes.

The new radar of the Pantsir-S1 SAM system is equipped with a phased antenna array with improved characteristics in terms of aerial target detection range, resolution, and noise immunity.

As a result, the new target detection and tracking radar with a phased antenna array will allow the new version of the Pantsir-S1 to increase the detection range of aerial targets with a minimum effective scattering area from 0.03 m² - from 36 to 80 km, and in the case of using new missiles, the interception range increases to 40 km. At the same time, the possibility of hitting aerial targets will also increase - from 1000 m/s to 2000 m/s.

Also, the Pantsir-S1 with the new radar version will allow the machine to automatically detect, track, and capture up to 3 aerial targets in automatic mode, simultaneously aiming up to 4 missiles at them.

Earlier, www1.ru reported that the Ministry of Defense demanded to recover almost a million rubles from "Voentorg" in a new lawsuit.
