On May 5, Dmitry Bakanov, General Director of Roscosmos, visited NPO Lavochkina, where during the meeting he set the task of increasing the production of Arktika-M series satellites. These devices are designed to monitor climate change and meteorological observations in the Arctic region.
It is necessary to ensure the proper level of operation of the "Electro" meteorological group and increase the number of "Arktika-M" series devices.
During the visit, the head of Roscosmos inspected the final assembly shop, where work is underway on lunar automatic stations, meteorological satellites, and the Spektr-UF space observatory.
At the meeting, the new General Director of NPO Lavochkina, Vasily Marfin, was introduced, who will have to implement the tasks set. Expanding the Arktika-M group will enhance Russia's capabilities in the field of space-based climate monitoring, which is especially important in the context of changing Arctic ecosystems.
