A trial batch of five crossovers of the new model — «Moskvich 5» — has been assembled at the «Moskvich» plant in the Tekstilshchiki district. The car, adapted for the Russian market based on the Chinese JAC Sehol X6, has already begun to appear on city streets. This is a step towards expanding the brand's lineup, which seeks to strengthen its position in the compact SUV segment.
«Moskvich 5» is equipped with a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine with a capacity of 150 hp, which works in tandem with a six-speed robotic gearbox. The drive is front. The dimensions of the model (4505 mm in length, 1850 mm in width and 2660 mm wheelbase) make it more spacious than its predecessor — «Moskvich 3», based on the JAC Sehol X4 platform.
The younger model «Moskvich 3» retains a similar engine, but is inferior in size: its length is 4410 mm, and the wheelbase is 2620 mm. This positions «Moskvich 5» as a more spacious option, aimed at families and those who appreciate extra space in the cabin.
The new crossover aims to compete with Chery Tiggo 7 and Geely Atlas through technology. In top configurations, «Moskvich 5» can receive second-level autopilot systems, including adaptive cruise control and lane keeping assist. This makes it one of the most advanced offers in its class on the Russian market.
