Assembly of the updated Moskvich 5 crossover has begun at the production facilities of the capital's car factory. Photographs of the model posted on automotive resources confirm its Russian origin: the identification number (VIN) contains the code X7LJ, and the body has plates with the official name.
The car prototype was first presented two years ago as the Chinese version of the JAC Sehol X6. In the summer of 2023, a similar specimen without identification marks and with an original design was demonstrated at an industry event. However, the current version differs in its adaptation to local production — assembly is carried out at a Russian enterprise using factory identifiers.
According to preliminary data, the technical characteristics of the crossover will be similar to the Moskvich 6 model. The range of power units will include two 1.5-liter gasoline turbocharged engines, developing 150 and 184 horsepower. The transmission is offered in two versions: a continuously variable variator or a six-speed robotic module. The drive is limited to the front axle, and the body length is 4.5 meters, which is 9 cm more than the dimensions of the Moskvich 3.
Despite plans to synchronize the release of the model with the "sixth" version, there is no official information about the start of sales yet. The crossover is not listed in the manufacturer's catalog, and its public presentation has not yet been held. However, individual copies have already been spotted on the roads of Moscow.
