Crews of the "Msta-S" self-propelled artillery guns have begun to actively use guided 152-mm "Krasnopol" ammunition. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Defense.
The firing was conducted from a closed firing position. All identified enemy targets were promptly destroyed, as confirmed by objective control footage.
The "Msta-S" is the most widespread self-propelled gun in the Ground Forces, designed to engage artillery batteries, tanks, defensive structures, armored personnel carriers, communication centers, command posts, manpower, and enemy rear objects.
After a series of modifications, it became capable of firing up to 10 rounds per minute. In addition, the self-propelled gun received an upgraded automated guidance and fire control system with improved accuracy characteristics, as well as the ability to display an electronic map of the area.
In the basic version, the "Krasnopol", in addition to the high-explosive fragmentation guided projectile, includes a laser designator rangefinder, with which the projectile is guided to the target. The range of the ammunition is more than 20 km, and the weight of the warhead is 8 kg.
