Новая схема мошенников: в соцсетях разводят на деньги под видом романтического свидания

Attackers lure victims to fake websites to "buy" tickets

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia has warned about a new Internet fraud scheme related to the pretext of a romantic date at a cultural event.

The cyber police said that attackers use social networks to establish contact, most often when a girl allegedly offers a young man to meet on a first date in a theater, cinema or other similar place.

She claims that she has already purchased a ticket for herself and sends a link where the interlocutor can buy a seat next to her. After entering card details and codes from SMS, money is debited from the card, but the purchase fails. Then the "girl" offers to contact "support service", where the man is asked to re-enter the data for a "refund". At this point, the fraudsters gain full access to banking information and withdraw all funds from the card.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs emphasizes that any requests to enter bank details on unknown sites are a worrying signal. They also strongly recommend not trusting strangers on the Internet, especially when it comes to money.
