Automatic UAV Reflashing and Maintenance System Created at MAI

The development is suitable for checking the condition of military and civilian drones and other equipment

At the Moscow Aviation Institute (MAI), a hardware and software complex has been developed for automatic monitoring and analysis of the condition of unmanned aerial vehicles.

The complex consists of a special communicator for installation on unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and collects data from sensors located on the equipment. The system also includes software for processing information and predicting UAV malfunctions.

Studies have shown that these problems and their consequences are typical of almost all industries where complex high-tech equipment is used, whether it is land, air, rail, river or sea transport, the fuel and energy complex or agriculture. Our development will fix this.

The digital platform collects information from all onboard sources, keeps a history of equipment operation (operating time, failures, management features) and maintenance and repair work. The system also generates analytical reports, provides information support and controls the work of the operator or technician.

The development allows for automatic monitoring of the health and forecasting of the use of the entire fleet of equipment. The accuracy of the forecasts has already been confirmed during system tests on one of the vehicles. The system can be used not only to monitor the condition of UAVs, but also for any other high-tech equipment.

In the civilian sphere, the use of the system can guarantee the safe operation of UAVs. For the military sphere, the system also has good prospects, said Sergei Kurapov, a researcher at the Moscow State University of Technology and Management named after K.G. Razumovsky. The use of an automated platform will allow drones to be automatically reflashed when software malfunctions are detected and will simplify the pre-flight preparation process.

Earlier www1.ru reported that in the Perm Territory a center for servicing and repairing drones with federal support will be created.
