The Kaliningrad-based holding company Avtotor has announced its intention to cease truck production and reorient its facilities towards deepening the localization of passenger cars. This was reported by the company's Vice President, Vladimir Krivchenko.
According to him, the released resources will be directed towards mastering the production of internal combustion engines (ICE), gearboxes, and cylinder block casting. This decision will not only increase the degree of production localization but also reduce dependence on imported components.
Krivchenko did not specify the exact timing for the closure of truck assembly and the launch of new production facilities, but the transition to new production areas has already been outlined.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that the former Bosch plant for the production of automotive components was restarted in the Samara region.
