The RF Ministry of Industry and Trade reported that the deal to sell the Russian Volkswagen factory is being finalized. The buyer is, unsurprisingly, the dealer “Avilon”.

«[The governmental] commission has already passed. Accordingly, the parameters have been approved and the deal between "Avilon" and Volkswagen is being finalized. Further work is being done with the industrial partners, with whom "Avilon" will be organizing the production" - said the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Denis Manturov.

Earlier there were rumors that "Avilon" would set up the assembly of Chinese cars in conjunction with Chery – cars under the brands Chery and Exeed would be produced at the factory. However, there is no official confirmation of this information yet.

As for another major Russian car manufacturing - the former Nissan factory, it will be renamed to "LADA St. Petersburg". It is worth noting, this enterprise in February 2023 fell under the jurisdiction of the Federal State Unitary Enterprise "NAMI" subordinated to the Ministry of Industry and Trade. Now instead of Japanese cars, Chinese cars will be assembled here: production of the Lada X-cross 5 crossover will start in June, which in fact is the renamed "Chinese" FAW Bestune T77.
