A digital laboratory worth over 12 million rubles is planned to open in 2025 at the Mining and Oil Faculty of Perm Polytechnic. It will become a universal platform for training students and conducting scientific research.
Modern high-performance computers in the laboratory will allow students to immerse themselves in the design of oil and gas fields. The equipment will be equipped with domestic and foreign software. Key programs will be Tempest MORE for geological and hydrodynamic modeling and tNavigator, which will help simulate the full cycle of work. More than 2 million rubles have been allocated for equipment.
Special attention is paid to virtual and augmented reality technologies. The Unity platform will enable students to create three-dimensional models of oilfield facilities and gain practical skills in safe operations, including drilling management. About 1.5 million rubles have been spent on this part of the project.
The laboratory will be equipped with a video wall - a multimedia system for demonstrating the results of scientific research on a large screen. 4 million rubles have been allocated for this technology.
Professor Inna Ponomoreva noted that the laboratory will initially be available only to students of the Mining and Oil Faculty, but in the future it is planned to use it for additional education and joint projects with industry enterprises. One of the areas will be the implementation of real production tasks, such as processing geological data.
Currently, preparatory work is underway, including the installation of furniture and equipment setup.
