From Sea to Land: 2M-3, AK-306, and AK-230 Naval Guns Adapted to Destroy Kamikaze Drones

All guns are equipped with thermal sights and can be retrofitted with ballistic computers

Russian ground units have received stationary modifications of naval anti-aircraft artillery systems (AAA) 2M-3, AK-306, and AK-230. The installations will be useful in destroying drones, according to military expert Evgeny Damantsev.

The 2M-3 combat module with a vertically oriented 25-mm automatic artillery installation has a maximum firing range of up to 7500 m with an effective altitude reach of 2800 m. The rate of fire is up to 600 rounds/min with an initial projectile velocity of 900 m/s. The gun's elevation angle varies from -10 to +85 degrees. The effective range against Lyuty-type kamikaze UAVs can reach approximately 2000 - 1300 m.

The AK-306 complex, based on a 6-barreled 30-mm rotating AO-18L gun, has a rate of fire of 1000 rounds/min and a significantly higher firing accuracy, which ensures an effective range against large UAVs of 2700 - 1500 m.

Altitude reach is 5000 m. The gun's elevation sector ranges from -12 to +85 degrees. The initial projectile velocity reaches 880 m/s with a barrel length of 54 calibers. The product was also manufactured by Tula Arms Plant.

The AK-230 twin 30-mm gun, based on NN-30 guns, has the largest elevation angle from -12 to +87 degrees, which minimizes the "dead funnel" in the upper hemisphere to 6 degrees. The altitude reach can reach up to 4800 m, and the rate of fire is up to 1050 rounds.

The initial projectile velocity is up to 1050 m/s due to the high ballistics of the 64.3 caliber long guns. All guns are equipped with thermal sights and can be retrofitted with ballistic computers. For operation in difficult weather conditions, the AA guns can also be equipped with Repeinik-type radar guidance stations or SBR-5 Fara-1.
