AvtoVAZ has started mass production of Lada Vesta cars with manual control for people with disabilities.
The certified mechanical control system with a lever to the left of the steering column allows people with impaired function of one or both legs to control the Vesta.
The model was first presented in 2024 at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. The system was developed by the Togliatti-based company "Hand Control." Pressing the lever away from you activates the brake, towards you - the accelerator. The pedal assembly is preserved, so the car can also be controlled in the traditional way.
AvtoVAZ produces Vesta sedans and Vesta SW station wagons with a CVT and a 1.6 liter 106 hp engine with this control system.
Earlier www1.ru reported that AvtoVAZ has resumed pilot production, which had been idle for more than 10 years.
