AvtoVAZ has announced the complete restoration of technologies in the former workshops of pilot production (OPP) in Tolyatti. It was created for the production of small-scale vehicles and the development of methods for producing new models.
The restart of OPP facilities will expand the model range, reduce logistics costs, and improve the quality of small-scale products.
Currently, at the site, AvtoVAZ's subsidiary, VIS-Avto Special Vehicle Production, manufactures vans and pickups based on Lada Granta and Niva, Niva Bronto SUVs, and various special vehicles.
Currently, VIS-Avto is mastering the welding and painting of bodies for the Niva Sport, previously produced at the parent company. In the future, it is planned to establish the assembly of cars within the framework of new AvtoVAZ projects here.
In 2024, the assembly and welding technologies for car bodies were relaunched at the OPP, and in early 2025, a modern painting complex was launched.
