Scientists are predicting the approach of a powerful magnetic storm. This is evidenced by data from the Solar Activity Laboratory of IKI and ISZF RAS.
The predicted storm impact index may reach 5 points on a nine-point scale. The geomagnetic phenomenon will begin to rage on the evening of April 10 and will last until April 12.
By the end of the work week, a noticeable solar wind speed was recorded, reaching 556 kilometers per second (the standard indicator is 400-450 kilometers per second). Scientists attribute this to the formation of coronal holes on the Sun — regions in its magnetic field with reduced plasma density.
According to experts, almost 75% of the Earth's population is susceptible to the negative effects of magnetic storms. These geomagnetic phenomena can negatively affect various aspects of life, including people's health and general well-being.
Earlier www1.ru reported that scientists are recording new bursts of geomagnetic activity.
