They emphasized that the Western THAAD and Aegis complexes can only intercept missiles that have a predictable flight path. According to French journalists, Russia's new Avangard weapon is too tough for them.

Avangard is a strategic missile system with an intercontinental ballistic missile equipped with a detachable hypersonic maneuvering warhead.

Thanks to this, the missile is capable of bypassing stationary anti-missile defense systems, and a speed of Mach 27 makes it practically invulnerable to existing interception systems.
