The State Duma has proposed increasing the fine for swearing in public places and on the Internet tenfold. Deputy Alexander Aksenenko proposed to amend the Code of Administrative Offenses to increase fines for the use of obscene language in public places and on the Internet from 1,000 to 10,000 rubles.
Currently, the use of obscene language in public places is considered petty hooliganism, which is punishable by fines ranging from 500 to 1,000 rubles or administrative arrest for up to 15 days.
Aksenenko stressed that the issue will be discussed in working groups and committees of the State Duma. He also said that a significant increase in fines is planned for legal entities that organize concerts of performers who use obscene language in their works.
The deputy expressed regret that there is currently a gap in the legislation, as a result of which the organizers of events are not responsible for artists who use obscene language in their performances.
Earlier, the State Duma Committee on State Construction and Legislation proposed introducing new fines for organizations that repeatedly allow personal data leaks. According to the proposed amendments, the fine for legal entities will be from 1% to 3% of their annual turnover. For officials, the amount of fines will vary from 800 thousand to 1.2 million rubles.
