The 1939 weapon is capable of firing up to 11.8 km

Russian military personnel on the line of combat engagement have deployed a Soviet D-30 howitzer manufactured in 1938. The weapon was mass-produced from 1939 to 1955, and the M-30 was or still is in service with the armies of many countries around the world.

The howitzer is designed for firing from closed positions at entrenched and openly located enemy manpower. The M-30 was also successfully used to destroy field fortifications and create passages in wire obstacles.

To defeat enemy tanks and self-propelled guns in self-defense, a HEAT projectile introduced in 1943 was used. In its absence, artillerymen were instructed to fire high-explosive fragmentation projectiles at tanks with the fuse set to high-explosive action.

Characteristics of the M-30 howitzer:

Weight in combat position — 2450 kg, barrel length — 2800 mm, length of the rifled part — 2278 mm, crew — 8 people, rate of fire — 5 - 6 rounds/min, maximum firing range — 11800 m.
