Тестирование технологий для повышения эффективности 6G начнут в России

TUSUR Scientists Develop Algorithms That Can Improve Spectral Efficiency of Data Transmission by 10-20%

Testing of new technologies aimed at increasing the efficiency of data transmission in 6G networks will start in Russia. The research is being conducted by scientists from Tomsk State University of Control Systems and Radioelectronics (TUSUR). This was announced in the university's press service.

Specialists have developed algorithms and mathematical models that demonstrate an improvement in spectral efficiency of 10-20%.

We are exploring multiple access technologies for new generation communication systems, including Massive MIMO — multi-element antenna arrays.
Evgeny Rogozhnikov, Head of the Department of Telecommunications and Fundamentals of Radio Engineering

Unlike existing technologies such as LTE and 5G, which use orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM), 6G will offer new approaches to improve spectral efficiency. For example, more users can be placed on a 10 MHz band without reducing speed.

To achieve this goal, scientists are using Power-Division Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access (PD NOMA) and Rate-splitting Multiple Access (RSMA) technologies. These methods allow data to be transmitted in the same frequency range, but with different power or speed. Massive MIMO technology, in turn, improves reception quality by using multiple antennas, which allows the signal to be focused.

Non-orthogonal multiple access, PD NOMA and RSMA are not yet used in 5G, but they are very likely to be included in 6G networks. Therefore, we are researching them in order to have competencies in this area, and we can subsequently cooperate with enterprises that develop telecommunications equipment.
Evgeny Rogozhnikov, Head of the Department of Telecommunications and Fundamentals of Radio Engineering

According to him, communication technologies change approximately every 10 years. He added that it is worth talking about 6G by 2030.
