Russia has begun developing requirements for a new long-range wide-body aircraft. This was announced by the Deputy Head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Gennady Abramenkov, at a meeting of the Federation Council Committee on Economic Policy.
According to him, the ministry, together with customers, is determining the configuration of the aircraft and the engine thrust requirements.
Now it is necessary to determine the type of engine that would suit both civil aviation in terms of long-range aircraft and state aviation. There are also customers there, and they also have requirements for other types of aircraft for which a unified engine is designed.
The Head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Anton Alikhanov, stated that Russia needs its own aircraft for long-range transportation. It is worth relying on the Ил-96 family, which will require modernization.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that in Russia, laser systems were proposed to be deployed to protect against UAVs.
