Nuclear space program to be launched in Russia as part of national project

The project will also include a launch program and the development of cosmodromes

A nuclear space program will be included in the national space project. This was announced by Dmitry Bakanov, head of Roscosmos, at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

According to him, the project will necessarily include the orbital group of the Russian Federation, on the basis of which the main communication services, remote sensing of the Earth and navigation, the launch program, the development of cosmodromes, scientific space, manned cosmonautics and the nuclear space program will be provided.

Bakanov called the priority tasks the fine-tuning of the national project in accordance with the instructions of the president in order to comprehensively and mutually link all elements of the program. Bakanov also said that Roscosmos will work to attract private investment in the industry and commercialize its activities.

Earlier, www1.ru reported that Roscosmos completed testing of the RD-191M engine for the modernized Angara-A5M rocket.
