Russians should be on their guard: fraudsters can use wireless headphones to spy and steal personal information. This was told to journalists by Ekaterina Edemskaya, an engineer-analyst at Gazinformservice.
According to the expert, headphones with outdated encryption algorithms transmit data via Bluetooth in a semi-open mode. Attackers intercept traffic and decrypt it, gaining access to users' personal information.
Fraudsters can remotely activate the headphone microphone and listen to conversations.
According to her, criminals can inject malicious code to gain access to the victim's files, messages, and banking applications.
The expert recommends using headphones with Bluetooth version 5.0 or higher. It is also important to turn off Bluetooth on your phone when it is not in use and avoid connecting to unfamiliar devices.
