In the next two years, the share of Chinese car brands in Russia will increase and may reach 90% by 2025. However, among the most popular brands now are Belgee, Knewstar, Xcite, "Moskvich" and Tenet.
In 2025–2026, a further increase in the share of Chinese cars in the market is expected. Currently, this figure exceeds 80% of the total import volume, and, according to the forecast of Renat Tyukteev, Deputy General Director for Sales of New Cars at Avilon Group, it may approach 90% by the end of 2025.
At the same time, Sergey Tselikov, director of Autostat, believes that the share of Chinese cars may decrease due to the emergence of new Russian-Chinese brands on the market.
Now a new trend has emerged, instead of Chinese cars, pseudo-Russian brands have appeared. Therefore, formally the Chinese are decreasing, but Belgee, Knewstar, Xcite, "Moskvich" and so on are increasing. If Chery still decides and renames the entire brand to Tenet, then the share of conditionally Chinese cars will be less, since the twin brands are \"eating away\" at the Chinese percentage.
Nikolai Ivanov, head of the new car department at Rolf, believes that in the coming years the share of Chinese brands in the market will remain at 60%.
In turn, Andrey Olkhovsky, General Director of the Avtodom group of companies, believes that in 2025 there will be a division in the market for sales of cars from China. The most affordable models from Chinese manufacturers, as well as the most expensive models in the premium and luxury segments, will be of greatest interest.
The budget segment will be covered by people who can afford to buy a car with minimal financial leverage. And the premium and luxury segments are for those who do not need financial leverage, who buy for cash and often even without selling their previous car.
Earlier, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia updated the list of cars that are subject to luxury tax. This list now includes Chinese models.
