Air tickets will become more expensive, airports need to be updated

Ministry of Transport will launch a new fee to update airports

The Ministry of Transport of Russia proposes to introduce a new infrastructure fee for airlines from September 1. It will be directed to the reconstruction of airports. Information about this was published on the official portal of regulatory legal acts, journalists noted.

The department is confident that the funds received from air carriers will help speed up the process of updating airports. The fee will apply to both Russian and foreign airlines. Sheremetyevo Airport is cited as an example, where a similar model is already applied.

Funding will be carried out within the framework of the federal project "Development of the backbone network of airfields." 366 billion rubles from the state budget and about 128 billion rubles of private investment under a concession scheme have been allocated for its implementation.

The main attention will be paid to improving flight safety and improving the quality of service at airports. Control over the amount of the fee and the distribution of funds will be carried out by state bodies. The fee is planned to be introduced at airports that are part of holdings.

According to industry experts, the new fee will affect the cost of air tickets. Air carriers will be forced to raise prices due to the introduction of new deductions.
