Mileage payment will soon become available in the Leonardo airline ticket booking system, developed by RT-Project Technologies (part of Rostec Group) and Sirena-Travel. The new service, which will allow passengers to use accumulated miles to fully or partially pay for tickets, will be launched soon.
Leonardo is a fully Russian information system for servicing air passengers, based on IATA (International Air Transport Association) international standards. The system automates most routine processes, reducing dependence on foreign software and improving the safety of air transportation.
The results of work and new directions of development of the Leonardo system were discussed at the International Forum of Digital Technologies in the Field of Transport and Logistics "Digital Transportation." Alexander Kuzhekin, Development Director of RT-Project Technologies, said that in 2024 there is an increase in traffic in partner airlines, which amounted to about 127% compared to the first half of 2023. The system successfully copes with scaling: currently, 64 air carriers are connected to the AIS, which have transported 140 million passengers since the beginning of 2023. Since its launch in 2023, 480 optimizations have been implemented, improving both services for airlines and the quality of service for passengers.
The official launch of the Leonardo system took place in 2014, and in the first two years of operation, a significant part of Russian airlines switched to the AIS. The migration accelerated in 2019 after a government decree on the need to localize the booking system. The project of transferring leading airlines to a domestic solution was implemented in record time.
