Росатом наладил работу опреснительного комплекса на АЭС «Аккую»

In the future, the complex will allow obtaining drinking water quality

Rosatom has launched a desalination complex at the Akkuyu NPP to provide the station with fresh water. This was reported by the press service of the state corporation.

The new desalination complex consists of two modules with a capacity of 1000 cubic meters per day each. It will provide the nuclear power plant with desalinated water for household needs and fire safety systems.

Seawater in special evaporator units will be converted into a high-purity distillate by evaporation and condensation. Ultra-pure chemically desalinated water will then be produced from this distillate.

In the future, it will also be possible to obtain drinking water quality at the desalination complex, for which it is equipped with a special mineralization unit. This unit will saturate the distillate with mineral salts in accordance with water treatment standards.

The start of operation of the station-wide desalination complex is an important event for ensuring uninterrupted water supply, and therefore, for the reliable operation of the station as a whole. This is another advantage of nuclear energy: after the launch, the NPP will provide itself with water at the expense of the electricity generated.

The desalination cycle is completely environmentally friendly. The water returned to the sea after use will meet all international standards for temperature and chemical composition.

Earlier www1.ru reported that Rosatom "befriended" foreign and Russian equipment at the Akkuyu NPP through a new converter.
